MISSION

To honor the design heritage and architectural vision of a Keck and Keck, midcentury residence sited deep in the woods overlooking Lake Michigan.

VISION:

Our intention was to further unite this property with the natural woodlands, bringing forward the original experience of place for the family who now dwelled there.

A witch hazel tree planted at the corner of the home matures to a horizontal branch structure that follows the low-profile plane of the home’s architecture. Stem hugging clusters of fragrant bright yellow flowers appear in late fall lasting into early winter.

Custom concrete planters lift Aspen trees pass the roofline and provoke the senses to the larger context of the woodland canopy.

Near the front entrance, the fine texture of the oak sedge is amplified in a mass planting to create a native lawn embedded by a thoughtfully placed bluestone boulder.
